Frac Pump Plunger Cap

Frac Pump Plunger Cap is a key vulnerable part of fracturing equipment in oil and gas production. It is mainly used to seal the gap between the fracturing pump plunger and the pump cylinder to prevent leakage of high-pressure fluids, while protecting the plunger surface from wear and corrosion. ​

This component is usually suitable for high-pressure fracturing pumps. It can work stably under working conditions, withstand working pressures up to 15,000 psi, and a wide temperature range of -40℃ to 120℃, and is suitable for a variety of fracturing fluid media, including sand-containing fluids, acid, and other corrosive media. ​

In terms of material selection, high-quality plunger caps are mostly made of high-strength polyurethane, nitrile rubber, or polytetrafluoroethylene composite materials. Through special formula design, high wear resistance, oil resistance, and tear resistance are achieved. Some high-end products will also embed metal skeletons to enhance structural stability, and the service life is increased by more than 30% compared with ordinary rubber products.​

In terms of structural design, the plunger cap adopts a lip seal or a combined seal structure. The built-in self-tightening spring can automatically compensate for the sealing force as the pressure increases, ensuring that good sealing is always maintained during high-pressure cycle operations. At the same time, its surface is precisely polished to reduce the friction coefficient with the plunger and reduce power loss. ​

During installation, special tools are required to ensure coaxiality. During daily maintenance, the wear of the sealing surface and the amount of elastic deformation must be checked regularly, and it must be replaced in time to avoid equipment shutdown or safety accidents caused by leakage.
